President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, First Lady Olena Zelenska, together with European leaders visiting Kyiv, honored the memory of fallen Ukrainian defenders on Independence Square.

The head of state announced this on social networks,  Censor.NET reports .

French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk are visiting Kyiv .

“We honored the memory of the soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom, for the independence of Ukraine. Eternal glory and gratitude to the heroes – those who are no longer with us, but who are forever with us. Eternal memory to those who gave their lives defending Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote. 

Participants in the ceremony placed lamps near the national memorial and honored the memory of the fallen soldiers with a minute of silence.

European leaders arrived in Kyiv today to participate in a meeting of the “coalition of the willing.”
