Zelensky after US calls for elections: “I’m exchanging myself for NATO”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was ready to exchange his tenure in office for the country’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance .

This is how he responded to a Sky News journalist’s question about his attitude to the prospect of elections in Ukraine. According to Zelensky, given the support against the backdrop of recent events, it will not be easy to “change” him:

“It’s not enough to just hold elections. They also have to prevent me from joining. It’s a little more complicated, because they still have to negotiate with me. And I said that I’m exchanging myself for NATO. If the war ends and Ukraine becomes a member of NATO, I’ve fulfilled my mission.”
