Zaporizhzhya Automobile Plant (ZAZ) will start producing buses under the Mercedes-Benz brand.

This edition of “First Zaporozhye” said Chairman of the Board of ZAZ Nikolay Evdokimenko.

The new nine-meter ZAZ A09 middle-class bus with a capacity of 36 seats is currently undergoing resource tests.

“The bus is certified for the Ukrainian market and is currently undergoing road tests, approximately 50,000 km. During this time, we must complete production preparations and pass a Mercedes audit,” Yevdokymenko said.

According to him, the bus will not only be equipped with a motor, transmission and other components of the famous German brand, but can get the Mercedes logo on the radiator grille.

“The procedure is underway, which we must confirm to the manufacturer compliance with its requirements. After that, the bus automatically enters the sales network of Mercedes – these are the countries of Europe, Asia to Kazakhstan,” – added the head of the plant.

Resource tests and audits should be completed this year. In 2021, the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant should produce about 160 buses, some of which will be sent for export.
