Ukraine’s victory in the war with the Russian aggressor remains the main priority of his activities in his new position.

The former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi made his first statement as the ambassador of Ukraine to Great Britain. According to him, the victory of Ukraine in the war with the Russian aggressor remains the main priority of his activity and the activity of the embassy.

“I continue to serve Ukraine. I have taken up the duties of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,” he wrote on Facebook .

Zaluzhnyi published a photo showing the handing over of a copy of credentials to the Vice-Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps, accredited to the Royal Palace, to the head of the protocol unit of the Foreign Office, Victoria Busby.

“Ukraine’s victory in the war with the Russian aggressor remains the main priority of my activity and the activity of the Embassy,” he emphasized.

Zaluzhny became the ambassador to Britain

As UNIAN reported, in February 2024, Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a decree dismissing Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. He has held this position since 2021.

Zelenskyi said that the change of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces is connected with the reset of the military command. The leader of Ukraine emphasized that Ukrainians should be faster, bypass the existing bureaucracy, because “we have no other chance.”

Later it became known that Valery Zaluzhnyi became the ambassador of Ukraine to Great Britain. On May 9, President Zelenskyi signed the relevant decree. British Ambassador to Kyiv Martin Harris congratulated Zaluzhny on his appointment and noted that he is looking forward to working together to strengthen the unbreakable alliance between Ukraine and Great Britain.
