The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, has appointed the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhnyi, as the Ambassador of Ukraine to Great Britain. This is stated in the Decree of the Head of State No. 316/2024 dated May 9.
“To appoint Zaluzhny Valery Fedorovych Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,” the decree reads

He was too good for the job……………………………………so he was fired.
I wish I knew why he was fired.

I would say it was also political. Zaluzhny was more popular than Zelensky.
For me, not a good enough reason to fire someone that could be decisive in winning the war … or to prevent losing more ground.
I don’t know either. We can speculate that his Economist interview was ill-judged:
“Writing after Ukraine’s counteroffensive was mostly rebuffed by heavily fortified Russian defenses, he warned that without a great technological leap forward “there will most likely be no deep and beautiful breakthrough,” but instead an equilibrium of devastating losses and destruction.”
He had to take responsibility for the failed counteroffensive, even though we all know that the allies; even before Trumpkov’s aid block, had only provided 20% of what was needed and even then, so late that the putinaZis had time to fortify and consolidate their occupied territories.
And then to compound the tension with Zel, he requested an immediate mobilization of 500,000.
Zel’s failure to expedite that very sensible request is the only error he made; but a very huge one.
Now they are playing catch-up.
However, their breakup was clearly not terminal, because the General has secured a top job commensurate with his capabilities.
He will be very popular in the UK; especially in the defence and military spheres.

If Zaluzhny were the skilled general that he’s purported to be, then firing him just because of such reasons would be an ill-advised thing to do. What am I saying, it would be a brainlessly stupid thing to do. Zelensky would play with the entire country’s fate with this.
