Zaluzhny misjudged the Russians.
The Ukrainian command underestimated the Kremlin’s readiness to take losses for the sake of destroying Ukraine. This was stated by the former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and now the Ukrainian ambassador to London, Valeriy Zaluzhny, speaking at the forum “Ukraine is changing the world”, organized by the NV publication.

According to the general, he based his plans on the expectation that heavy losses of the Russian army would force the Russians to stop. However, this assessment turned out to be wrong.
“It was absolutely my mistake. Today we see that human resources are the cheapest for Russia. Russia certainly does not consider human losses and is ready to achieve its goal through the heaviest losses. This must be taken into account,” Zaluzhny said.
At the same time, he expressed his conviction that inflicting maximum losses on the Russians still remains a pressing task for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Things would have went way different had allies not telegraphed every stance and move they made, as well as actually providing what was promised, and going above and beyond in a timely and strategic manner. The amount of time that was given to the rashists to dig in and countless delays of military support proved catastrophic to decisively and rapidly stopping orc gains and driving them out of Ukrainian territory.
That’s right. The cowardice, dithering, and basic buffoonery has brought us to where we’re at today.
