Yes, I want my Crimea back.

It was on this very day in March 2014 that russia completed the annexation of Crimea, an event that I refuse to accept, either from the point of view of international law or for personal reasons.
Recently, at a local party, I listened to the usual comments of a middle-aged manager (an Italian who has lived in Germany for many years), who found Ukraine’s plans to return Crimea too far-fetched and unrealistic (to laugh at!), talking, as usual, of compromises. For some reason, he turned to me to support his words, truly believing that I, too, found the Crimean peninsula unimportant in the global goal of achieving peace. That was his mistake.

Yes, I want my Crimea back.

I want to return to the places of my childhood, to play with the pebbles and waves on the seashore, to walk through the remains of the Genoese medieval fortress, to pass the Kirche of the German colonists built in the 19th century and abandoned. As children, we used to play among the graves of these German colonists of the 19th century, long dead and forgotten, trying to decipher the strange Gothic letters on the stones among the tall lush grass (the German cemetery doesn’t exist anymore because the russians thought that spa hotels would bring more money to this place).
Of course, the aforementioned Italian had no idea that there was an Italian fortress in the small town in Crimea, which had “always been russian”.

This is a photo of me taken in Sudak, Crimea, around 1991, when independent Ukraine was born.

I have very strong reasons to believe that #Crimea is #Ukraine and belongs to Europe.

Crimea was once English ! Little known fact but after the Norman invasion many if not most English knights, after serving in Constantinople, moved to Crimea, founding “New London” etc, as shown on Venetian and Genoan maps from the period – it then became the land of the Crimean tartars – the majority of Crimeans voted in the 1991 Soviet referendum on Ukrainian independence in favour of an independent Ukraine free from Russia – and most of the Crimean countryside is inhabited by Ukrainian speaking Crimeans who want to conduct larger scale farming, but they have been ignored by the Russians who instead imported Chechen gangs – let’s hope that Crimea can again be free as an autonomous part of Ukraine – as Chair of the British Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce (BUCC), I used to hold events in Yalta – a very pleasant city.

Alesya Pavlynska great post and touching image, off course you want your Crimea back and is worth to fight for every single square meter. The EU and US leaders must help Ukraine🇺🇦 to realise this goal. All #ruZZiannterrorists and #murderers 👹 must be thrown out and eliminated. I hope Brussels (except Orban and Fico) are convinced, otherwise WW3 is our future. 🇺🇦 slava Ukraine, victory will come✌️

  1. you are adorable and you will have your beautiful Crimea back abd those touching memories Crimea is Ukraine and victory is ours слава украіні героям слава

  2. As I have observed before, Crimea is too beautiful to be occupied by nazi vermin.
No wonder she wants her Sudak back. It’s a charming seaside town with dreamy landscapes, pine forests and vineyards.
It used to be a big Tatar town. Many were persecuted, some were tortured, killed or “disappeared.”
Most had to move to non-occupied areas. Mykolaiv has been very welcoming to them, which is its historical tradition; having 100 different ethnicities there. Another city where you will see Tatar shops and businesses since 2014 is Lviv.
Many fleeing Tatars with nice homes had them thieved by vermin.
