WWII Teaches us that Isolationism is Suicide

Republican Congressman Rich McCormick of the House Foreign Affairs Committee has been a fervent defender of Ukraine. He has traveled to Kyiv, refuted claims that US funding was corruptly misappropriated, and argued that the USA has a moral obligation to support Ukraine.

For the 80th anniversary of DDay he joined my two daughters in parachuting over Normandy from a C-47 to honor the legacy of the WWII veterans.

I caught up with the Congressman after his jump at Mont Sainte Michel and asked him about the relevance of WWII to the situation in Ukraine. (Watch a sixty second clip of my interview below.) He quoted nearly verbatim the speech of Ronal Reagan given at the 40th anniversary of DDay:

“We in America have learned bitter lessons from two World Wars: It is better to be here ready to protect the peace, than to take blind shelter across the sea, rushing to respond only after freedom is lost. We’ve learned that isolationism never was and never will be an acceptable response to tyrannical governments with an expansionist intent.”

  1. I have learned from this war that a huge part of this globe’s population have learned exactly nothing from the lessons of WWII.
