World in 24 hours: Trump admitted to those around him that he would give Crimea and Donbass to Putin, – WP

Trump is convinced that Russian aggression in Ukraine is a minor territorial dispute and not a threat to the global security system.

Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Ukraine is to force Ukraine to cede territory to the aggressor. People from Trump’s circle who discussed this issue with him told The Washington Post about this .

It is noted that Trump has repeatedly boasted that he would negotiate a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine within 24 hours of returning to the White House. But he has regularly refused to publicly disclose the contents of the plan. People who discussed the issue with Trump, speaking on condition of anonymity, told WP that the plan is to push Ukraine to hand over Crimea and Donbass to the aggressor country.

According to one of the publication’s interlocutors, in a private conversation, Trump said that, in his opinion, both Russia and Ukraine “want to save face, they want a way out,” and that people in some parts of Ukraine would agree to be part of Russia.

It is alleged that some Trump associates tried to dissuade him from such a plan. “I spent 100% of my time talking to Trump about Ukraine. He (Putin) has to pay a price. He can’t win this,” said Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Trump’s press service refused to directly deny this information, limiting itself to a statement that the above evidence was not credible.

“Any speculation about President Trump’s plan comes from unnamed and uninformed sources who have no idea what is happening or what will happen. President Trump is the only one talking about stopping the killing,” spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said.

Fiona Hill, Trump’s former top adviser on Russia, says her former boss relies too much on his own charisma and believes he can reconcile Ukraine and Russia simply by sitting down with their leaders at the negotiating table. She also noted that the Trump team perceives the Russian invasion of Ukraine as an ordinary territorial dispute, and not a threat to the entire architecture of European security and world order as a whole.

  1. Just one minor problem with all these articles about Trump, and what he will or won’t do about Ukraine. He hasn’t been elected yet. Europe has 8 months to get their arses into gear, and make sure that if Trump does want to throw Ukraine to the wolves, then it won’t affect Ukraine too much.

  2. I don’t doubt that he said these things 12, 18 months ago. We all heard him say he would end the war in 24 hours, but it’s been quite some time ago – he’s not said that recently. Everyone now knows that was a fantasy. Trump was hoping he could skate all the way to November without having to be realistic because this situation is a nightmare of epic proportions. The last thing I heard him say was that he would act on Nov. 6th to end the war and it would be over by inauguration day. So his 24 hours has stretched to two months. If it’s not happened yet, he will eventually realise the necessity of using force, in the form of military support or otherwise. That will be difficult to do when (I say “when” but you might say “if”) Putin has 150K troops performing “exercises” on the borders with Poland & Lithuania. Trump is not going to say what he will do because he’s trying to win an election. Whoever wins in November, Biden or Trump, they’ll both be screwed by what is happening in the U.S. House right now.

  3. Trump is too wishy-washy, too much a big mouth, too lovey-dovey with dictators, and too wobbly in the face of evil. He is completely unsuitable as a hot dog salesman, let alone POTUS.

      • No, multiple comments to the “Trump is ready to unblock aid” post were definitely deleted – including a reply to your “Hey my comment was removed.” comment in which I wrote, “Some of my comments were removed also, Bert. And now new ones aren’t showing up if I’m logged in.”

I commented, saw the comment, then later it was gone. I then reposted it without signing in, saw the comment, and this morning it’s also gone.

          • Sir Scradge said that some of my comments were “binned”, and it looks like someone restored some of them, but new comments are still not getting through.
