Many EU diplomats and officials fear that the US proposal will hinder work on a “reparations loan” for Ukraine.

The US presidential administration has baffled its European allies, who are attempting to use approximately €140 billion in frozen Russian assets to provide a “reparations loan” to Ukraine. One of the 28 points of the US “peace plan” includes the idea of using these assets for Washington-led reconstruction work after a ceasefire is achieved. Furthermore, the US wants a 50% share of the profits from this activity.
According to Politico , many diplomats and European Union officials fear that US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff’s proposal will ruin their chances of agreeing to a loan proposal for Ukraine. European leaders had hoped to finalize the agreement at a summit next month.
A former French official told reporters that Wittkoff’s idea was “scandalous.”
“The Europeans are exhausting themselves trying to find a viable solution to use assets for the benefit of Ukrainians, and Trump wants to profit from them. This proposal will likely be rejected by everyone,” he said.
A senior EU official told reporters that Trump does not have the authority to unfreeze Russian assets held in Europe.
“Witkoff needs to see a psychiatrist,” added another senior EU politician.
The publication noted that the use of Russia’s frozen assets is a complex issue, as Belgium, where most of the assets are held, opposes the decision. Brussels stated that this could lead to harsh retaliatory measures from Moscow.Read also:
Now, diplomats and EU officials fear that the Trump administration’s new proposal will make it even more difficult to convince Belgium to join the plan. One European official told reporters that the US plan is an argument against promoting a “reparations loan” to Ukraine, as the EU would be subject to pressure from Washington.
Trump sets deadline for US peace plan
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that next Thursday, November 27, which coincides with Thanksgiving Day in the United States, is the appropriate deadline to make a decision on a “peace plan” for Ukraine. He noted that he insists on this deadline, but that the deadline could be extended.
Trump also said that Ukraine “will lose even more territory in a short period of time.” The US president also stated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not seek a new war.

Blah, blah… Why Belgium can’t do the right thing is beyond me.
Belgium doesn’t seem to realize that once the cockroaches come to them, that money is totally worthless to them. They’ll have far worse problems on their hands.
Witless needs to be sent into prison.

He’s a wholly-owned putler stooge.
