US Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff discussed issues related to Ukrainian territories with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his recent visit to Russia.

Speaking to the WSJ, Witkoff confirmed that the Russian dictator was “obsessed” with the Ukrainian territories. The American special representative suggested that Russia “could get some of the regions,” but not all. According to him, Ukraine “could worry less about some regions” if they were Russian-speaking.
Commenting on this, the WSJ notes that Witkoff’s position may contradict Washington’s official line, which involves supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity .
