Yesterday, our international relations and foreign affairs circle was simply rocked by the news of Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, who looked as if he was about to faint from joy when Putin—the man he specifically came to negotiate with—approached to shake his hand. Witkoff later informed Trump that the quickest path to a ceasefire was for Ukraine to hand Putin four of its regions. But wait—then came an even bigger “betrayal,” or as we Ukrainians like to call it, “zrada,” courtesy of another envoy, General Kellogg, who casually mentioned dividing Ukraine like Berlin back in the day. After facing a wave of outrage, Kellogg swiftly clarified that everyone just misunderstood him. Classic, right? But let’s take this step by step.
