It is known that most of the sanctions that the Kremlin demands to be lifted are EU restrictions.

The withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine will be one of the main conditions for lifting or amending EU sanctions, a European Commission spokesman said, Reuters reports .

The publication recalled that in late January and early March, EU countries extended two packages of sanctions against Russia for another six months. However, any changes to the restrictions require a unanimous decision among the 27 member states of the European Union.

“The cessation of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression in Ukraine and the unconditional withdrawal of all Russian armed forces from the entire territory of Ukraine would be one of the main prerequisites for amending or lifting sanctions,” the EU spokesman noted.

The United States reached separate agreements with Ukraine and Russia on Tuesday to halt their attacks at sea and against energy facilities, with Washington agreeing to push for the lifting of some sanctions against Moscow.

Reuters added that during the talks in Saudi Arabia, the United States agreed to help Russia get rid of Western sanctions on food supplies, fertilizers and shipping companies as a precondition for concluding a maritime security agreement in the Black Sea.

Diplomats told reporters that most of the sanctions listed by the Kremlin are EU restrictions.

Lifting sanctions against Russia – latest news

Earlier, former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ogryzko said that Russia is demanding the lifting of sanctions because its economy is heading for a precipice. According to him, by demanding the lifting of sanctions, the Russians themselves confirm that the restrictions are in place and that this is bad for the Russian economy.

  1. I hope the EU increase the sanctions. This is a European problem, not a gateway to Trump appeasing Putler in the vain hope of receiving the Nobel peace prize.

      • Vance might regretting his outburst against Europe. The EU hold all the cards in the removal of sanctions against russia, and judging by what is coming out of Europe, they won’t be lifted any time soon.

        • They must stop buying putinaZi oil completely.
They must refuse the restart of Nordstream. If Trumpkov somehow skanks it through, it must be only putlerist shitholes buying it.
There is yet another problem brewing: Meloni.
I will post an article on her asap.

  2. “However, any changes to the restrictions require a unanimous decision among the 27 member states of the European Union. ”

They can keep having meetings, and at every meeting a different country can veto any lifting of sanctions. That should see mafia land collapse by the time they have come to any agreement. BTW, it will be the only vote that Orban will never veto.

    • Such a round of discussions and votes in the EU would be a positive thing for a change. 😂
