With St. George ribbons and Russian army uniforms: a neo-Nazi rally took place in Budapest

A neo-Nazi rally was held in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, on Saturday, February 8. Far-right groups gather in Budapest annually for the so-called “Day of Honor.”

They are gathering to commemorate the failed attempt by Nazi and Hungarian troops in 1945 to break out of the Buda Castle to escape the Soviet siege and reach the nearest German positions, Radio Liberty reports, citing AFP.

Thousands of people took part in the annual rally marking World War II, while anti-fascist activists gathered nearby to protest the rise of the far-right around the world.

Police were also present, patrolling the streets with the help of drones, dogs, and special forces.

Journalists estimated that about 4,000 people took part in the “memorial march” from Buda Castle, some of them wearing far-right insignia and even Nazi uniforms.

Photos posted online show that people wearing Russian occupation army uniforms with a “Z” patch were also spotted at the rally. As is known, the letters Z, V, and O have become symbols of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The occupiers paint them on their equipment, wear chevrons with them on their clothes and hats, and Russian “patriots” who support the war against Ukrainians apply this symbolism to literally everything they have the imagination for.

Hunyadi Bulcu, a researcher at the think tank Political Capital, told AFP that for far-right groups, the soldiers who tried to break out of besieged Budapest in 1945 “protected Western Europe from the threat of the Red Army.” However, since the attempt was made “in the name of Nazi Germany,” it cannot be “glorified” in any way.

As OBOZ.UA reported, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban previously accused the European Union leadership of “destroying Europe.” According to him, the European economy is “sinking,” and Orban blames Ukraine for this.

  1. Of course, they are not a majority, but they are growing … the neo-Nazis. Not only in Hungary, but in numerous other nations, too.
We see that many humans are anencephalic monkeys, who have forgotten all lessons of history and have no idea what evilness they are supporting, or are themselves so evil that they embrace this evilness. Even the mafia state is loved by these soulless ghouls.

“Trump tornado has changed the world in just a few weeks…yesterday we were heretics, today we’re mainstream,” Orban told the gathering.”

The quote is from the Radio Liberty article itself. Is this something to be proud of? How far have we sunk that our president is a role model for fascists? How much further will we sink and will we ever get out of this neo-Nazi swamp again?
Our forefathers are deeply ashamed and utterly disgusted, seeing what the United States is turning to.
Yes, we have wokeness to thank a lot for this development and I am anti-woke. But, it’s not right to replace one stinking concept with one that reeks even more.
