Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the United States and Europe to increase sanctions pressure on Russia after a combined night attack on Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions.

The head of state announced this  on social networks,  Censor.NET reports .

“Right now, parts of Russian missiles and drones are being neutralized in Kyiv. Rescue work is ongoing and emergency services are working at the sites of hits and debris falls – wherever necessary. There were many fires and explosions in the city at night. Residential buildings, cars, and enterprises were again damaged. Unfortunately, there are injured people,” he noted. 

The President recalled that Russia launched 250 strike drones, the absolute majority of which are Iranian “Shaheeds”, as well as 14 ballistic missiles. The regions affected were Odessa, Vinnytsia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kyiv, and Dnipro. Civilians everywhere. There are dead. 

“With each such shelling, the world becomes convinced that the reason for the war being dragged out is in Moscow. Ukraine has proposed a ceasefire many times – both complete and in the sky. All of this has been ignored. It is obvious that we need to put much more pressure on Russia so that there is a result and real diplomacy begins. We are waiting for sanction steps from the US, Europe and all our partners,” Zelenskyy stressed. 

He added that only additional sanctions against key sectors of the Russian economy would force Moscow to cease fire. 

As a reminder, on the night of May 24, the enemy fired 14 ballistic missiles and 250 attack drones at Ukraine. Air defense forces destroyed 6 missiles and neutralized 245 UAVs .

The main target of the attack was Kyiv . The shelling caused fires in several areas of the capital.
