In Russia, a nationwide competition for a new name for the SSJ Sukhoi Superjet may be held. This was stated by the head of “Rostec” Sergei Chemezov.
We are creating a new modification of the “Superjet” (Sukhoi Superjet New), and this work is yet to come. I think that the name should be changed, of course. Why should a Russian-made aircraft be called an English abbreviation?
Chemezov noted that the company has not yet thought about what to call the plane. “Maybe we will announce an all-Russian competition,” said the head of Rostec.
It is assumed that the modification of the Sukhoi Superjet New will be completed by 2023, the development cost is estimated at 120-130 billion rubles. The new version, first of all, will differ from the old one by the wider use of Russian components.
Chemezov talked about a possible rebranding of SSJ back in the fall of 2019.

Maybe they can call it Skyfall then?
I suggest they name them after Nemtsov, Navalny or Magnitsky
:)))
You think they will make 3 of them, it will be a miracle if it ever gets off a PC screen. LMAO
Bhaaaaahaaaaahaaaaaaaaa!
No, the Russian name….for it. Home-made Russian components……hahahahaha.
A badly designed and built plane is a badly designed and built plane, no matter what name you give it.
I would even prefer the steam engines from a Tupolev.
How about, Dead Meat Express.
Not the best name for marketing purposes but at least it will be truth in advertising.
Or Crater Maker.
or Fire Ball.
