White House Opposes House Republican Bill, Splitting Ukraine Israel Aid

FEBRUARY 03, 2024

Statement from Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Latest House Republican Bill

For months the administration has been working with a bipartisan group of Senators on a national security agreement that secures our border and provides support for the people of Ukraine and Israel. Just as legislative text is imminent, the House Republicans come up with their latest cynical political maneuver. The security of Israel should be sacred, not a political game. We strongly oppose this ploy which does nothing to secure the border, does nothing to help the people of Ukraine defend themselves against Putin’s aggression, and denies humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians, the majority of them women and children, which the Israelis supported by opening the access route. House Republicans should instead work in a bipartisan way, like the administration and Senate are doing, on these pressing national security issues.

  1. “House Republicans should instead work in a bipartisan way, like the administration and Senate are doing, on these pressing national security issues.”

It should be quite clear to any adult person having at least some common sense that the House Republicans have kidnapped the institution for the sake of one man’s political goals … Donald Trump. These persons have also sold out their positions to benefit a rogue country called russian federation. They are not acting for the well-being of our nation, and also do not care about anyone’s lives in Israel and Ukraine. They all are completely irrelevant to them. The one and only interest is to help Trump win the upcoming election. Their actions are downright treasonous and have destroyed the last vestiges of honor and dignity that the House had left over. It’s become Trump’s personal circus show in which he leads Johnson, Gaetz, Taylor-Greene, Vance, and others by nose rings.
If the people think that we’re having problems in Washington now, it’ll be far worse when putin’s buddy sits in the Oval Office.
I’m glad that the Biden administration had enough sense to veto their moronic bill.

  2. How bout the Democrats close the border which has been open for 31/2 years with over I million illegals roaming around the US why is the onus on the Republicans ,Biden could partially fix the border tomorrow with a stroke of a pen

    • Patty, of course, you’re right. If you’ve followed us on here close enough, you probably read comments by me and others explaining about the need and importance of securing our borders. I was against our open border policy since the very start. I was very angry when Biden opened it. It was his first step after assuming office. I also put blame on the Democrats for the mess in the House, for their continued refusal to fix the border.
However, it is a small group of House Republicans who are causing the most problems. Their refusal to the latest deal, a big compromise, that Biden managed to create is the last straw. It could’ve been a first step for much more. But, it’s clear now that the border issue is not important to them. Trump’s political goals are what’s important to them. This is harming not only Ukraine but our country.
