The political act of faux compassion – public relations sympathy communicated about unspecified victims of unknown crimes by unnamed perpetrators who may or may not be justified in their actions.
Earlier today Indian Prime Minister Modi made the following statement with Putin and Lavrov next to him during a recorded photo session with the press.
“Whether it is war, conflict or a terrorist attack, any person who believes in humanity is pained when there is loss of lives. But even in that, when innocent children are killed, the heart bleeds and that pain is very terrifying.”
Putin responded by smiling and saying “thank you.”
What actually happened?
- Modi had a photo op designed to create plausible deniability regarding his actual complicity in giving aid and comfort to Putin regarding his active warcrimes.
- He declined to address the actual issue itself. He never stated the crime. He said just enough to confuse idolatrous followers, and nothing to offend Putin, and everything to shroud the clear act of terrorism by Russia in obfuscation.
- In this one simple statement – truth was exchanged for oil, and the great nation of India was shamed again by their leader’s alliance with the world’s leading terrorist.

Apologies for repeating myself, but I want to repost a comment I made yesterday which included a quote from an Indian who was all too representative of the people of that hell hole :
“The vile Modi is in Moscow groveling to putler like a fucking servant. I looked in the biggest English language paper; Times of India, to gauge the reaction. No condemnation of the terror attack whatsoever, just satisfaction at the relationship between these monsters.
A comment from an Indian reader says it all:
Ashok:
“There need be no sunset clause for Indian purchases of military hardware from Russia. A sort of gradual fading away, limited to spares and upgrades. While there has been diversific ation, which has benefited France and Israel, to some extent the United States, Russia should remain firmly in contention for new systems as well, like the highly regarded S 400. No one is selling or leasing a Virginia class submarine to us. As a sovereign nation, there is no question of CAATSA sanctions being accepted for purchases from Russia. If Russia sportingly accepts our growing friendship with the United States, America should have no issue with one that is much older, has stood the test of time. India’s decision to buy up to 46% of its oil from Russia is a glittering instance of strategic autonomy.”
The shame cling to India, and never be erased.
Why expect a country with a truly nonwestern culture and perspective to recognize and condemn actions that are despicable from a Western viewpoint?
Also as a British statesman said centuries ago, England has no permanent friends, just permanent interests. Therefore Indians and their government see no reason not to economically benefit from cheap Russian petroleum and have no problem that it is covered in the blood of Ukrainian civilians and children.
