It’s become fashionable to blame NATO for freeloading off of the United States lately. On the surface, this argument seems to have some merit – most NATO nations have chronically underspent on defense, while the United States has invested huge amounts. But there is much more to the reality than at first meets the eye. In this episode, I talk about the history of NATO, and why the U.S. has always turned a blind eye to NATO “underspending”…until now.
