“We’ve never seen anything like this”: the Russians now have FPV drones with a cable 10 kilometers long

Russian experiments with FPV attack drones have reached a new level.

Ukrainian defenders found an intact Russian FPV attack drone on the battlefield , which was carrying a reel of cable. This was reported by specialist and consultant in the field of military radio technologies Sergei Beskrestnov (“Sergei Flash”).

“We saw something that we had never seen before. A Russian FPV drone flew to a target with a 10-kilometer-long coil of thin fiber optic cable. The cable unwound in the air. Thus, we see a new technology for controlling an FPV drone,” writes Flash on his Telegram. page.

According to him, experts had previously proposed such technology, but then its effectiveness was doubted due to the threat of fiber breakage and loss of the UAV. “But I’m already asking Ukrainian specialists to check this control technology so that we don’t end up behind the enemy,” says Sergei Flesh.

Now the device has already been handed over to specialists from a separate battalion of attack drones “Birds of Magyar” for detailed analysis.

In theory, the cable gives the operator the opportunity to have a constant, uninterrupted video signal in high quality, which can significantly improve the accuracy of hits. In addition, the operator will not encounter such a phenomenon as the “radio horizon”, due to which, when diving in the last meters of flight, communication with the device may be lost.

  1. The Flinstones Drone…………….the operator hangs at the end of the cable……………..

  2. Good reasons for using this idea as well as bad.

    Possibly fatal…….
