We’ll Miss Him When He’s Gone – Social Media

The Blog About Everything … and Sometimes Nothing

One Bored Woman’s Perspective On Whatever

I can hear the reactions now:

“Are you nuts?” “Do you realize who you’re talking about?” “What in the name of all that’s holy is wrong with you?!!”

Seriously . . . how could I even consider the possibility that anyone in their right mind would ever miss this . . . this . . . this creature after he’s gone?

And you’d have every right to react that way. But let me explain.

The vast majority of people in this country — in fact, in the entire world — will breathe a huge sigh of relief when Donald Trump is at last escorted out of the White House for the final time . . . whether vertically or horizontally, and whether two years from now or sooner.

But think about the mass media. The mainstream press. The independent journalists and bloggers. The late-night talk show hosts and stand-up comedians. What on earth are they going to do for material when they no longer have Trump to kick around? Who else will provide them with such a steady stream of quotable stupidity? This hillbilly stiff? . . .

Or Mr. America? . . .

Hardly. Because once Trump leaves, so will all his sycophants, co-conspirators, and blonde bimbos.

Just imagine a world without a gold-plated White House . . . or, as President Obama called it, Saddam Hussein’s Cheesecake Factory. Or a paved-over Rose Garden . . . a picture of an autopen where Joe Biden’s face belongs . . . a ballroom the size of Rhode Island.

Who else will provide daily offerings of incomprehensible, homophonic, xenophobic, misogynistic word salad, middle-of-the-night social media rants, or a steady stream of reminders of how many wars he’s settled and “IQ” tests he’s aced?

Seriously . . . don’t you think the daily news will be a lot less interesting without all of that? I do.

But on the other hand, I imagine that the myriad of investigations that will undoubtedly follow his departure will provide their own sort of entertainment.

We may even get to see what’s in those Epstein Files after all.

Just sayin’ . . .

  1. The extremely well-informed Brendochka has just posted about Oleshky :

The temporary ceasefire began yesterday, with the involved area expanded to include regions surrounding Oleshky, Ukraine. Under the terms of the agreement, aid will now be allowed to reach the remaining citizens — estimated at between 1,700 and 2,000, mostly elderly and infirm individuals who have been unable or unwilling to leave, plus an estimated 50 children — and to evacuate as many as possible.

This is two days ahead of the original schedule. According to Melania Trump, who is being credited with having brokered the ceasefire, the early start was arranged in order “to protect the safety of civilians and to facilitate the delivery of critical humanitarian aid. The ceasefire’s geographic area has expanded beyond Oleshky, within the Kherson region, to provide safe passage for the humanitarian convoys.” [RFE/RL’s Ukrainian Service, October 27, 2026.]

However, due to the necessity of clearing the area of Russian mines before safe passage can be guaranteed, the first humanitarian aid deliveries and population evacuations are not expected to begin until Friday.

Here’s hoping it all goes well.

    *. *. *

But even in the midst of this welcome development, Russia continues to bombard other regions of Ukraine. On Monday night, some 16 ballistic missiles and 280 drones were launched, including strikes in Kyiv on a university dormitory and other civilian sites, killing at least one person.

And following a 90-minute phone conversation with the leaders of Finland and Norway on Tuesday in which they attempted to support the proposed trilateral negotiations being scheduled in November among Ukraine, Russia and the United States, the Kremlin issued a statement summing up its take on the discussion:

“It was emphasized that achieving a just and long-term peace is possible only if the legitimate interests of the Russian Federation are fully and unconditionally taken into account. At the same time, attention was drawn to the confrontational policies of EU and NATO countries, which are contributing to the prolongation of the hostilities.”[Essi Lehto, Reuters, October 27, 2026.]

It remains clear that Vladimir Putin still has no desire to seek peace except on his terms — terms that would reward him for the war he started and the thousands of deaths he has caused. All of the meetings, the so-called negotiations, and the short-term ceasefires are nothing but “red herrings” . . . delaying tactics that have given him the time he needed to steer Donald Trump over to his side while simultaneously waging a shadow war against Europe.

The nations of Europe have been forced to band together in their own defense in ways unknown since World War II, due to Putin’s undisguised aggression and Trump’s betrayal of Ukraine, its European allies, and everything the United States has always stood for. But will it be enough?

This is one of those defining moments that students of history will be discussing and debating for decades — or perhaps centuries — to come. And I’m not sure I want to be around to see how it all turns out.

Of course, I said that about the Cuban Missile Crisis, too . . . and we’re all still here. So there is always hope.

  2. Garry Kasparov has posted a dire warning in his latest article in the DT. Europe had better follow his advice or expect the unthinkable: a trumputler defeat of Ukraine.

    Extracts :

Putin will defeat Ukraine unless Europe seizes the last chance to stop him
The world is running out of time to avoid the worst possible outcome – a war that threatens the future of democracy globally.

As the fifth year of fighting drags on, Ukraine faces a dire winter ahead. The situation is stark: if Ukraine does not immediately receive funding and the weapons it needs from Europe, it will lose.

Currently, Europe is not even providing adequate defensive resources, let alone those needed to launch a decisive attack against Moscow. Its leaders continue to look for a comfortable middle ground between waging war and preserving business as usual. European impotence is even more dangerous today because it takes place against the backdrop of America’s absence. This administration cannot be counted on (regardless of what happens in the upcoming midterms); it is thoroughly corrupt, immoral, and perhaps even compromised.

There is only one thing left for Europe to do to give Ukraine a chance at winning this war, which is being fought on behalf of every democracy worldwide: unfreeze Russian sovereign funds, being safeguarded in Belgium, and find practical ways to use that money to arm and support Ukraine.

Unless that is done, Ukraine’s impending defeat – and the inevitable progression of Putin’s war to its next staging ground – will leave Europe politically irrelevant and powerless in shaping the future.

  3. We cannot fight until the last Ukrainian – it’s time to call Putin’s bluff

The surge in civilian casualties in Ukraine shows how the West, including the UK, must defend Kyiv’s airspace or face worse in the future, explains world affairs editor Sam Kiley

  4. Phillips P. OBrien :

Every Ukraine backer who argued Trump would not be so bad, Trump could be persuaded to back Ukraine, that Trump was getting irritated with Putin, that the US just wanted peace–should have the basic decency to admit that they made it all up. Trump was with Putin, always.

  5. Roman Sheremeta:

An independent UN investigations concluded that russia is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity by intentionally attacking civilian infrastructure.

No way, we discovered that water is wet.

  6. “Saddam Hussein’s Cheesecake Factory” needs to be dismantled, along with the entire putler wing of the once GOP.
