Russia believes that the recognition of Ukrainian sovereignty over the internationally recognized territories of Ukraine means capitulation for it.

Russia does not intend to participate in the second Global Peace Summit , which Ukraine wants to hold this fall. Such a statement was made by the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova .

“Representatives of Russia did not participate in any meetings within the framework of the “Bürgenstock process” and are not going to participate. This process itself has nothing to do with the settlement. This is another manifestation of the fraud of the Anglo-Saxons and their Ukrainian puppets,” she said.

According to Zakharova, the second peace summit aims to “extend the absolutely unviable “Zelensky formula” so that the world majority will support it. Zakharova considers this an attempt to “present Russia with an ultimatum about surrender.”

“We will not participate in such summits. But we do not give up on the political and diplomatic resolution of the crisis, we are ready to discuss really serious proposals that take into account the situation “on the ground”, the emerging geopolitical realities, and the corresponding initiative formulated by President Putin on June 14 “, – said the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, Zakharova accused Ukraine and the West of wanting to continue the war, and the alleged confirmation of this is the “bandit invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region” and “the permission Zelensky is asking for strikes deep into Russia.”

“This is a continuation of terror against the population of our country. We will not talk to terrorists,” Zakharova said.

Prospects for a peaceful settlement

As UNIAN wrote, on June 14 this year, Vladimir Putin issued an ultimatum to Ukraine : the Armed Forces must completely leave the entire territory of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, including the cities of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, so that Russia agrees to start peace negotiations. That is, these are not even the final requirements for signing peace.

On the Ukrainian side, the President’s Office announced plans to hold a second peace summit, which, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyi, should put an end to the war . They want to invite Russia to the summit.

At the same time, the President’s Office is trying to implement together with Ukrainian partners a kind of “Victory Plan”, the essence of which has not yet been revealed to the general public. To what extent the “victory plan” correlates with the global peace summit is not yet very clear.
