The smallest shelling of the territory of Ukraine by the aggressor country Russia was carried out on the night of December 29. That day, the occupiers targeted the territory of our state with 25 strike drones.
This was announced during a telethon by Yuriy Ignat, head of the communications department of the Ukrainian Air Force. According to him, the number of drones used subsequently increased, but on New Year’s Eve, the massive strike that Ukrainians expected did not occur.
Ukrainians expected massive shelling from the Russian Federation on New Year’s Eve, as it happens every year. However, in late December, the Russians launched only drones, and the lowest activity occurred on December 29. On that day, only 25 drone launches were recorded – the fewest during the observation period. After that, activity increased slightly: to 62, then 127 and 200 drones, and on January 1, 116 attack UAV launches were recorded.
The head of the communications department recalled that the aggressor country traditionally strikes on New Year’s Eve with missiles and drones, but this year’s activity was less than expected.
As OBOZ.UA reported, on the night of January 2, Russia launched a new air attack on Ukraine: the enemy used 116 air attack vehicles. Air defense forces neutralized 86 targets.
We also recall that Ukraine received two more Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems. The air defense systems have already begun to protect Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure. Strengthening protection against Russian attacks was achieved thanks to recent agreements with the German government.
