German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful has called on the United States to lift restrictions on the speed of Starlink satellite communications in Ukraine. He argued his demand by saying that Berlin is funding part of the equipment and therefore expects the system to operate without restrictions.

This is reported by ntv. The politician also added that the German side does not yet have complete information about the reasons for the restrictions introduced, but plans to clarify this issue.

Berlin demands explanations from the US regarding Starlink restrictions in Ukraine

Wadeful advocated lifting restrictions on Starlink operations in Ukraine, emphasizing that Germany is financing part of the equipment for this satellite communication system.

“And so, of course, we insist that it works if we pay for it. Ukraine must continue to be given full support,” the minister said.

Wadeful noted that Germany does not yet have all the information about the reasons for the restrictions on Starlink operations in Ukraine. He assured that Berlin plans to discuss this issue with the American side in the hope of obtaining the necessary explanations.

As a reminder, Republican Senator Tom Tillis from North Carolina previously called for an investigation into the actions of the US Department of Defense and its head, Pete Hegseth, over the Starshield system limitations faced by the Ukrainian military. He said that he and his colleagues would seek a formal investigation by the Pentagon Inspector General, as he did not count on transparency from the minister.

As OBOZ.UA reported, problems arose in Ukraine with the operation of the military version of Starlink . Due to speed restrictions, the terminals began to lose connection, which led to the disruption of a number of important missions of the Defense Forces.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on American entrepreneur Elon Musk to resume Starlink operations, emphasizing the possible consequences of restrictions on human lives.

The head of state also stated that Starlink speed limits affect the operation of Ukrainian interceptor drones. According to him, after reaching a speed of about 161 km/h, the connection is turned off, which is why the military loses drones.
