French President Emmanuel Macron informed Volodymyr Zelensky about increased support for Ukraine – the transfer of interceptors and continued cooperation within the Anti-Missile Coalition to give the country all the means to protect its own skies
Macron wrote about this on the social network X after a telephone conversation with Zelensky.
Macron and Zelensky spoke by phone after Russia attacked a shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih. Macron said that with this strike and attacks on Kyiv this week, Russia was stepping up its crime of aggression, and that systematic attacks on civilians were a sign of weakness rather than strength. He added that he had expressed to Zelensky his “horror and shock” over the incident.
“It is necessary to provide Ukraine with all the means to protect its skies and thwart this aggression,” Macron wrote.
In this context, he announced to Zelensky increased support — the transfer of interceptors and continued cooperation within the framework of initiatives launched at the founding meeting of the Anti-Missile Coalition in Paris on July 13 and the letter of intent signed on November 17, 2025. Macron added that it is extremely important that other countries with the appropriate capabilities join these efforts.
The French President also stressed the need to continue to increase pressure on Russia as long as it refuses to cease hostilities and make peace. He said he and Zelenskyy also summed up the mobilization of efforts for the peace that the Ukrainian people seek – with respect for their rights and full security guarantees for Ukraine and the entire continent, ahead of Monday’s meeting of the Coalition of the Willing.
“Russia is trying to break Ukraine through terror – it will not succeed. United with Ukraine, we will ensure that law and justice triumph over force,” Macron concluded.
- As a reminder, Russian forces attacked a shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih twice on August 21 , first with a strike drone, and then again with a Shahed jet at extremely low altitude. At least 16 people are known to have been killed and 130 injured, including 23 children.
