The Council of the EU has finally banned the import of russian pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas.
The ban will take effect six weeks after the regulation enters into force. Existing contracts will be subject to a transitional period. The EU says this phased approach is intended to limit the impact on prices and markets.
A complete ban on russian gas will take effect at the beginning of 2027, while the ban on pipeline gas will begin in autumn 2027.
EU countries must prepare plans to replace russian gas and report on existing contracts by March 1. The same requirement applies to countries that still import oil from russia.
Violations of the rules will result in heavy fines: from €2.5 million for individuals, from €40 million for companies, or up to 3.5% of annual turnover or 300% of the deal amount.

I did not want to comment on Alex Pretti’s killing before there was enough evidence and footage to draw a clear conclusion. Some people have also told me that I should remain silent about events in the United States and focus only on Ukraine.
But as Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote: “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”
After reviewing the available footage and evidence, I can say that the shooting of Alex Pretti was a cold blooded murder and execution. What happened was a grave abuse of power and force. Anyone who tries to justify such violence should seriously reevaluate their moral compass.
Those responsible for Alex Pretti’s death must face criminal charges. By the way, recent polls suggest that most Americans share this view.
Moreover, Greg Bovino should be removed from his position as Border Patrol commander and held accountable for spreading false statements about Alex Pretti’s death. The same responsibility applies to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Enough is enough.
Those who inflict genocide deserve the same fate.
