He offered Zelensky his country’s experience in joining the European Union.
Slovakia will not participate in post-war security guarantees for Ukraine , but is ready to share its experience of European integration so that Kyiv does not repeat the same “fatal mistakes” that Bratislava once made.

As an UNIAN correspondent reports, this was stated by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
He noted that as Prime Minister, he wants Slovakia and Ukraine to have good, friendly, high-quality relations.
“I am glad that we were able to talk to you face-to-face and explain some points to each other and insist on some of our points of view. Some points of view are different, such is life,” Fico said, addressing Zelensky.
He also said that he had suggested that the President of Ukraine share his country’s experience in joining the European Union.
“Because we made a number of fatal mistakes along the way,” the prime minister noted.
In addition, Fico added that Slovakia as a country cannot participate in security guarantees, but supports various initiatives.
“We support the president’s peace formula,” he added.
