“We finally have to get on with it”: Bundestag MP reminds Merz about Taurus for Ukraine

08/13/2026

Germany “two or three years ago” should have provided the Ukrainian defenders with long-range Taurus air-to-ground cruise missiles. Such assistance to Ukraine from Germany would not be superfluous now; the German military could also begin training Ukrainian colleagues in working with these missiles. At the same time, the German government should increase pressure on the aggressor country Russia and, in particular, introduce new sanctions against it.

This is the opinion of a Bundestag member from the ruling CDU party, Bundeswehr Colonel Roderich Kiesewetter. He recalled the promises of current Chancellor Friedrich Merz two years ago and noted that Germans “finally have to get on with it. “

They should have done it two or three years ago

” We should have closed the “Russian House” a long time ago, summoned the ambassador if there is evidence, and possibly expelled the country’s ambassador. We need to think about this. What follows is quite clear: the shadow fleet must be stopped, sanctions must be strengthened, and training on the Taurus must begin. Then the Federal Chancellor will have a tool in his hands to decide when he wants to deploy the Taurus,” the Bundestag deputy said.

He emphasized that this “finally needs to be tackled” because “the Federal Chancellor himself promised it. “

“Personally, I find it shameful that Germany is now saying that Ukraine no longer needs Taurus missiles, that it can now produce missiles on its own. But for three years it could not produce them on its own and needed missiles. Yes, now Ukraine has its own Flamingo, but this missile is still at the development and testing stage; it will not be able to replace the Taurus that were not delivered to Ukrainians for a very long time,” says Roderich Kiesewetter.

Better situation

The Bundestag deputy noted that the transfer of the aforementioned German missiles to Ukraine would not only ease its situation, but would also provide additional opportunities for strikes on the military facilities of the occupiers. In particular, the Ukrainian military could hit Russian bunkers, underground production facilities, as well as command posts.

“Then Ukraine would be in a better position,” Roderich Kiesewetter emphasized.

He added that Germany “could have increased Taurus production long ago,” and could also “allow countries willing to supply Taurus to Ukrainians to do so.”

What preceded

As OBOZ.UA reported, back in May of this year, German politicians appealed to Chancellor Friedrich Merz. In response to Russia’s spring “Oreshnik” gifts to Ukraine, Germany should provide Kyiv with Taurus cruise missiles, they insisted.

  1. What can you say about Merz? He is a Scholz 2.0 and nothing more. He is worse, actually, because he is not only a spineless coward like Scholz, but he also lied. Scholz, at least, never spoke such bloated words about Taurus as Merz had during his election campaign.
It is not only disgusting to see this constant, nonstop cowardice across the Western world; it’s also downright tiring. As mafia land expands its war on Ukraine and its hybrid war on the West, our leaders are shining with inaction. They are endangering all of us by their passivity. One particular orange dickhead in the White House is even encouraging mafia aggression by siding with the war criminal.
