Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine does not recommend that foreign representatives visit Moscow on May 9 amid continued Russian attacks and threats. According to him, Russia seeks to receive “permission for a safe parade” but is not ready to stop the war.
Zelensky said this in his traditional address on May 7. He commented on the Russian shelling and the situation surrounding the ceasefire proposed by Ukraine.
Ukraine proposed a ceasefire
The President recalled that Kyiv had offered Russia a complete ceasefire starting May 6. According to him, the country was ready to ensure complete silence, but in response it received new strikes and threats from Russia.
Zelensky stressed that the Russian authorities want to “safely” hold the parade in Moscow, after which they will continue the war against Ukraine.
“They want permission from Ukraine to hold their parade, to go out onto the square safely for an hour once a year, and then go on to kill our people and fight again. The logic of the Russian leadership is strange and definitely inadequate,” the president noted.
“We do not recommend”
Zelensky noted that Ukraine is receiving signals about the intentions of certain states close to Russia to send their representatives to Moscow on May 9. The President advised them not to do this.
“We also have appeals from some states close to Russia that their representatives are going to be in Moscow. It’s a strange desire these days. We don’t recommend it,” the head of state said.
Russian strikes and the “mirror response”
According to the president, in the last 24 hours alone, Russia has struck practically the entire Ukrainian defense line – from Chernihiv region to Mykolaiv region.
He noted that civilian trains, energy facilities and residential buildings were attacked . Zelensky stressed that the strikes on the trains “had no military meaning.”
The President emphasized that Ukraine’s position remains “as transparent and honest as possible”: Kyiv is ready for silence, but will respond in kind to the actions of the aggressor country, Russia.
“If there had been silence, there would have been no long-range Ukrainian sanctions,” Zelenskyy concluded.
As OBOZ.UA reported, Russia announced “its truce” for the 4th time on the eve of May 9. Another statement was made on May 7 by the Russian Defense Ministry, which also threatened a “massive strike on Kyiv” in the event of a violation of this regime.

Hit mafia land hard. No doubt as soon as putler’s parade is over, schools and hospitals will be targeted again.
I think Ukraine will hit hard. They’ve been a bit modest with their attacks lately, so they’ve been accumilating their strike weapons just for this occasion.
Just watching Jay in Kyiv. He said there is massive surveillance going on over the Black Sea by US, Turkey and other countries. Whenever this happens, a huge strike by Ukraine usually follows.
My dog even knows this. He’ll also be eating popcorn and drinking beer with us on May 9th.
Taking down that stupid bridge will be worse than Ukraine attacking his parade. Now that would deserve extra popcorn and beer.
All strikes so far were eventually just testing the ‘air’ defense before putler’s ‘big parade’. 🤣
I can see the AFU general staff headquarters busy as a bee hive, getting their attack plans ready.
I think this should be clear enough about Ukraine’s intentions.
