“We are witnessing the emergence of services similar to Mossad”: a former CIA official assessed the Ukrainian special operations of the Main Intelligence Directorate and the SBU in Russia

The ex-CIA official assessed the [Ukrainian–OFP] special operations of the Main Intelligence Directorate and the SBU on the territory of the aggressor country, Russia. He said there was now the emergence of services similar to Mossad, the Israeli spy service long accused of killings in other countries.

This was reported by The Washington Post. It is noted that since 2015, the CIA has spent tens of millions of dollars to turn Ukraine’s Soviet services into powerful allies against Moscow.

The Agency has equipped our country with advanced surveillance systems. In addition, he trained new recruits at facilities in Ukraine as well as the United States. New headquarters for Ukrainian military intelligence units were built and intelligence shared on a scale unimaginable before Russia illegally annexed Crimea.

The extent of the CIA’s involvement in the Ukrainian intelligence services has not previously been disclosed. At the same time, US intelligence officials stressed that this work is focused on strengthening the ability of these services to collect intelligence about a dangerous enemy.

“Any potential operational issues were clearly communicated to Ukrainian services,” the intelligence official said.

In the last 20 months, the SBU and its military counterpart, the GUR, have carried out dozens of murders of Russian officials in the occupied territories, collaborators, military officers on the front line, and known supporters of the war within Russia itself.

But Ukraine’s position has complicated its cooperation with the CIA, raising concerns about the agency’s complicity and raising concerns among some officials in Kyiv and Washington.

“We are seeing the emergence of a number of intelligence services similar to the Mossad in the 1970s. Ukraine’s skill in such operations carries risks for Russia. If Ukraine’s intelligence operations become even bolder – for example, against Russians in third countries – you can imagine how it will be “could cause disagreements with partners and become a serious conflict with Ukraine’s broader strategic goals. These goals include membership in NATO and the European Union,” the ex-official said.

As OBOZ.UA reported, former director of the US Central Intelligence Agency David Petraeus said that Washington and the governments of other Western countries should speed up the supply of fighter jets to Ukraine. In addition, he called on Western representatives not to doubt the sending of long-range missiles to Kyiv.

I’m sure that Ukraine will find the right measure between diplomacy and revenge.
All in all, however, there cannot be forgiveness for vile war criminals. They must be hounded and either be brought to Ukraine for trial and punishment, or get slaughtered on the spot. No one got angry at Israel when its Mossad did such things, knowing what horrors the Jews suffered in WWII. But, the Ukrainians are also suffering despicable horrors at the hands of russians and their helpers. They must get punished, and if certain nations harbor them, despite evidence, and Ukraine eliminates them, then that’s just too bad.

    • I too am sure that Ukraine will maintain the balance between goals and ramifications. Though at times ruthless, sometimes it has to be, and if Ukraine patterned a branch after Mossad IMO it’s needed and understand why they incorporated learned lessons from them.

      • “…if Ukraine patterned a branch after Mossad IMO it’s needed…”
That’s right, Bill, such type of organization is needed, simply because there might not be any other way to get most war criminals to pay for their despicable crimes.
