They stated that this was the only possible path of development for them.

Residents of Irkutsk, located in Siberia, recorded a video appeal to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin , in which they complained about an acute shortage of school places.

In the same appeal, residents of the Berezovoy microdistrict asked the Russian Foreign Ministry to contact Chinese President Xi Jinping to build them a school “within the framework of ethno-cultural diversity and active development of cultural ties with China.”

There are about two thousand school-age children in Berezovo, but they have to travel to neighboring villages. At the same time, the schools there are overcrowded. In Berezovo itself, a new school for 1,500 places was promised to be built in 2021, but the work has been stopped.

“We are ready to learn the Chinese language because we believe that we really need it. Active development of cultural ties with China is the only possible path for us to develop in conditions when our country’s priorities are somewhere in the zone of building new metro stations in Moscow and new schools in Tajikistan,” one of the residents of Irkutsk said in her address.
