Rubio noted that the United States has been working for a long time to bring Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table

The United States does not see a military solution to the war in Ukraine . However, achieving peace through negotiations is currently complicated by the unwillingness of the parties to compromise, especially on the part of Russia. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a hearing in the House of Representatives .
“Unfortunately, to this point, none of the parties, especially the Russian side, has shown a willingness to make the concessions necessary for peace,” he said.
Rubio noted that the United States has worked hard to bring the parties to the negotiating table. He acknowledged that these efforts have not yielded the desired results.
The Secretary of State added that the United States will continue to play a role in achieving peace. He also noted that Washington has already chosen a side in this war.
“Let’s be frank – we are not impartial mediators in this war. We are not supplying weapons to Russia. We are only supplying weapons to Ukraine. We are not imposing sanctions on Ukraine, only on Russia. So we clearly took sides,” Rubio said.
In addition, the Secretary of State emphasized that the United States continues to sell weapons to Ukraine through the PURL program.
“We would like this to lead to a negotiated settlement. Right now, the prospects for either side to make the necessary concessions to reach an agreement are not very good. But we are prepared, as I have repeatedly stated to both sides, to intervene and play any positive role we can to end this destructive war that is escalating,” Rubio said.
The problem with negotiations to end the war
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Iran is the number one issue for the United States, while the war in Ukraine has receded into the background for Washington . He noted that Ukraine “is in the queue of these wars.”
Zelensky stressed that the United States is the country that can most effectively push Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to end the war. At the same time, he noted that the best option for Ukraine would be for both Washington and Europe to be involved in the negotiations.

Hopefully this is clear enough for the partisans. Though I remember several times, Trump said he wanted to be a mediator, so in that case, let’s hope that idiocy has come to an end.
