Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that Russia is already showing signs of exhaustion, but it is still premature to talk about a turning point in the war. The Ukrainian military continues to inflict significant losses on the enemy and systematically reduce its combat capabilities.
He published the corresponding assessment on July 7 on Facebook after a monthly meeting dedicated to the training of military personnel and units.
“The Ukrainian Defense Forces maintain consistently high rates of destruction of Russian occupiers’ personnel and their equipment, consistently destroy enemy logistics, and deliver effective strikes on military and critical infrastructure facilities, primarily the fuel and energy complex of the Russian Federation, which ensures the functioning of its military machine,” he noted.
Situation assessment
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that such results indicate the correctness of the actions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. At the same time, he warned against overly optimistic assessments of the situation on the front.
“This shows that we are acting correctly. At the same time, it is too early to talk about a qualitative turning point in the war. The aggressor is showing signs of exhaustion, but it retains significant offensive potential. It is increasing the number of its troops, continuing massive strikes on the territory of Ukraine, increasing the production of weapons, preparing to seize the initiative and possible offensive actions on new sections of the front. We are taking these threats into account, working to strengthen the resilience of the defense, and must act proactively,” Syrsky wrote.
Separately, he reported that these issues became one of the main topics of the monthly meeting on improving the quality of military training. According to the Commander-in-Chief, after completing combat missions, personnel training remains one of the key priorities, because the lives of the military, the stability of units, and the effectiveness of defense depend on its level.
Military training
Syrsky stated that today the Ukrainian army has an advantage over the Russian troops precisely in terms of the level of personnel training. According to him, this is confirmed by both the course of hostilities and the losses suffered by the Russian army.
At the same time, according to the commander-in-chief, the enemy is trying to compensate for this factor with a numerical advantage. Russia also plans to increase the length of the front line, which already exceeds 1,250 kilometers.
Syrsky reported that the Ukrainian military training system will continue to be improved. He emphasized that training methods must quickly adapt to changes in the tactics of modern warfare, the development of unmanned systems, the emergence of new types of weapons and the specifics of their combat use.
“We continue to increase the training of junior commanders and sergeants,” he noted.
International support
The Commander-in-Chief also drew attention to the development of a professional non-commissioned officer corps. According to him, Ukraine’s international partners continue to play an important role in this process.
“An important component of the development of a professional sergeant corps remains the support of our allies. The training of master sergeants and unit commanders is currently carried out on the territory of six NATO member states,” Syrskyi said.
He added that the Armed Forces constantly receive feedback from combat units on the quality of training at training centers. This feedback is used to improve the training process and increase the safety of military training.
In addition, the selection of candidates for non-commissioned officers’ colleges is ongoing, both among civilian youth and among military personnel. The task of forming a reserve of junior commanders for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has also been set.
In conclusion, Syrsky thanked everyone who is involved in training the Ukrainian military and works every day to strengthen the state’s defense capabilities.
