According to journalists, the building of the Georgian Public Broadcaster may become the epicenter of protests on December 1.

A protest action continues near the Georgian Parliament on Rustaveli Avenue on December 1. The protesters have now blocked traffic, writes the Sova publication .

It is known that protests in the country continue due to the authorities’ decision to suspend negotiations on the country’s accession to the EU until 2028.

According to Georgian media, a special forces unit has been mobilized near the monument to George the Dragon Slayer in Tbilisi and water cannons have been spotted.

“On the sides of the parliament, on Chitadze and Chichinadze streets, police officers are standing in a cordon. Below is a large rally of demonstrators. The Georgian anthem is playing. And – rarely – the sounds of fireworks, which have not yet been used systematically, as was observed at the rally on the night of December 1,” the statement noted.

At the same time, the publication “Echo of the Caucasus” reports that some of the protesters moved from the parliament building on Rustaveli to the Public Broadcaster, where the road was blocked, and the action is currently continuing.

“A march to the building of the Georgian Public Broadcaster. Perhaps that is where the epicenter of the protest will be today,” the journalists suggested.

In turn, the head of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vazha Siradze, called on protesters who “show violence” during rallies to stop such actions. According to him, violent actions are already being monitored on the part of active protesters, writes Sova .

Later, Ekho Kavkaza published a video that already recorded the first incidents near the Georgian parliament building.

This reminds me of the Euromaidan. I hope that the Georgian people will be as successful as the Ukrainians were back then.
