Volunteer Yankee To Belarusians: We Must Fight For Our Own

Freedom is worth it.

25.08.2024

Belarusian volunteer in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ihar “Yankee” Yankau spoke about the situation in Belarus and the future of the country.

In an interview with Zhyzn Malina (“Raspberry-Life”), Yankee did not rule out that Belarus would have to fight against Russia if it wanted to be free.

The volunteer, serving in the special unit of the GUR (Ukrainian Defence Intelligence), hopes that he will get to the territory of Belarus “not as a prisoner or a prisoner, but as a free man.”

Yanki said that he does not communicate with his parents. The last time he spoke with his father was at the beginning of the full-scale war: after hearing the position “everything is not so clear-cut”, the volunteer told his father that he would no longer communicate with him and hung up.

Yankee advised his compatriots:

“I would advise Belarusians to look at my actions to understand that we must fight for our freedom. Don’t sit strait, don’t be silent at home, and whisper about how bad the government is in Belarus.

You just need to understand that we have to fight for what’s ours, and sometimes you have to give your life.”

  1. I have a lot of respect for the free Belarusians that are fighting for Ukraine, but maybe Yankee should address the Belarusian women instead, since they were the driving force during the mass protests after the last elections in Belarus. But, I do still hope that all Belarusians will wake up and rise up very soon. Their fat potato leader’s friend in muscovia is being cornered and is becoming ever more vulnerable.
