US won’t give Ukraine “many guarantees,” but Kyiv will get some things automatically, Trump says

The US President is convinced that Europe must bear the main burden.

The US will not provide Ukraine with direct security guarantees ; Europe should do this. But the agreement on Ukrainian resources does provide “some security guarantees.” This was stated by US President Donald Trump during a meeting of the American government .

“This is a good agreement for Ukraine too. They also automatically get some security guarantees because we will be there and Europe will be watching everything closely. Britain and France have said that they want to send peacekeeping forces there. I think that’s good,” he said.

Trump said he intended to return “the $350 billion given to Ukraine and much more” thanks to the subsoil agreement. He stressed that Kyiv would benefit from the agreement, but not in the form of direct U.S. guarantees.

“I don’t want to spend any more money on Ukraine. I’m not going to give a lot of guarantees. We’ll ask Europe to do it, but we’ll do everything we can to make sure it goes well,” Trump said.
