According to Bloomberg, a draft statement called the attack on Sumy proof that Russia was determined to continue the war.

The United States has told G7 allies that it will not support a statement condemning Russia’s deadliest strike on Ukraine this year because it wants to preserve the possibility of continuing talks with Moscow, Bloomberg reports .

The administration of President Donald Trump, according to the publication’s sources, has informed allies that it cannot sign a statement condemning the strike because it is “trying to preserve space for peace negotiations” while contacts between the White House and the Kremlin continue.

It is noted that Canada, which holds the G7 presidency this year, has informed partners that issuing such a statement is impossible without US approval.

A draft G7 statement seen by Bloomberg said the strike on Sumy was proof of Russia’s determination to continue the war.

Russian attack on Sumy

On Palm Sunday, Russia fired two short-range ballistic missiles, one of which was equipped with cluster munitions, at the Ukrainian city of Sumy. The strike killed at least 35 people and injured 119, including children.

Donald Trump called the strike “horrible”, but said, without elaborating, that he had been told that Russia “made a mistake”.

Continuing to actively seek an agreement to end the military conflict, Trump once again shifted the blame for what was happening to his predecessor, Joe Biden, and Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Russian Federation, which is killing Ukrainians, must be pressured to stop committing crimes against Ukrainians. This is how EU High Representative Kaia Kallas commented on the Russian strike on Sumy .

  1. We only have to wait till the moment Trump declares Russian the State Language in America………hahahahaha…

  2. It is beyond revolting that the current brainless U.S. administration is incapable of supporting a “no brainer” group statement condemning russian war crimes against Ukraine.😠

    • There is no force on this planet that can give morals or dignity to the empty carcass called Trump. He’s a lost cause. What we can hope for is that enough people will do the right thing during the coming elections … and that the destruction he causes until then won’t be too great.
