US weapons will arrive at the front in less than a week, after Congress agrees – WP

The Pentagon has already packed all the “gifts” for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and is just waiting for the go-ahead from the US political leadership to hand them over to the Ukrainians.

Ukraine will receive the first shipment of weapons from the United States “in less than a week” after the US Congress passes a new aid program for Kiev and President Biden signs the law. US officials spoke to The Washington Post on condition of anonymity.

It is noted that this weekend the House of Representatives of Congress is due to consider a bill to help Ukraine proposed by Speaker Mike Johnson. If it is accepted, then next week this document will be considered by the Senate of the Congress, where they promise not to delay adoption. If the Senate says “Yes,” all that remains is to get the signature of Biden, who also spoke approvingly of the document.

Earlier, Pentagon sources already told the media that the US military began packing a new batch of weapons for Ukraine in advance in order to transfer it as soon as there was consent from Congress.

After the adoption of the law on assistance to Ukraine, “it will take less than a week before some of the weapons reach the battlefield,” one of the publication’s interlocutors assured.

What exactly will be included in the first batch of weapons and in what quantity is still unknown. The Washington Post suggests that there will definitely be 155mm artillery ammunition and “medium-range” rockets. It is also likely that Ukraine will receive additional air defense systems, in particular anti-aircraft missiles.

Congress will consider a law on aid to Ukraine

As UNIAN wrote, probably on Saturday, April 20, the House of Representatives will consider a new bill on military assistance to Ukraine – for the first time in more than six months. According to the Financial Times , there is a fairly high chance that the document will be approved, although the vote could still be disrupted by Donald Trump, who has still not given his unambiguous assessment of this document.

The upper house of Congress – the Senate – promises to quickly give its consent to this bill if it successfully passes through the lower House of Representatives. They also want to send the law to Biden for signature as soon as possible.

  1. “Less than a week”, that would be warp speed for the Pentagon! Great news. Here’s hoping the suddenly closing “window of opportunity” will hit Putin right on the nose. 😁

  2. If he doewn’t wander off to shake hands with someone only he can see…..

What really puzzles me is that in a country of over 300 million, both Democrats and Republicans cant find anyone to run for President who is younger than their late 70’s!
