US warned Europeans of weapon delivery delays due to war in Iran

The US is delaying the delivery of missile systems to allies due to weapon shortages caused by the war in Iran. The lack of weaponry is already negatively impacting Ukraine’s defense.

Washington has warned European allies, including the United Kingdom, Poland, Lithuania, and Estonia, of a possible long-term delay in American weapons deliveries as the country struggles to replenish stockpiles depleted by the war in Iran. This was reported by the Financial Times, according to UNN.

But the war in Iran has also deepened concerns about whether the U.S. has sufficient weapon stocks to deter Beijing or defeat China in any future conflict over Taiwan. In addition to causing alarm across Europe, these delays are bad news for Ukraine amid fears regarding U.S. support after four years of war since Russia’s full-scale invasion.’ – the article states

It is noted that the Pentagon warned countries of serious delays with several missile systems. Negotiations were also held regarding the postponement of deliveries to Asia. The delays are partly due to acute concerns over U.S. stockpile levels, given the large volume of weapons used over the past two months in Iran. The U.S. military has already been forced to move weapons from other regions, including the Indo-Pacific, to compensate for the deficit.

It is indicated that the strain on U.S. stockpiles is already hurting Ukraine. For instance, an unnamed high-ranking Ukrainian official stated that American weapons supplies to Kyiv have been delayed since the start of the war with Iran. At the same time, according to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, delivery delays sometimes result in Patriot launchers remaining empty during Russian missile strikes.

Last week, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the supply of weaponry from the United States is ongoing, and Ukraine continues the negotiation process with the American side.
