Bessent said that Zelensky is “stuck in his role.”
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is “stuck” in his heroic role and is not getting good advice due to the imperfections of his advisors. He said this during an interview with propaganda journalist Tucker Carlson.
“He was an entertainer, a vaudevillian. He was an ordinary person who fell into a difficult time, got back on his feet, showed heroism and, I think, got stuck,” he said.
Bessent also criticized the president’s advisers, saying they were not giving him good advice.
“I think some of the government officials around him and in the government are very good. But I think some of the people around him are not giving him the best advice, that his advisors are not perfect,” the minister said.
At the same time, speaking about the agreement on minerals in Ukraine, he again emphasized that this is not an attempt to impose debt on Ukraine, but an “economic partnership” beneficial to both countries.
“The US will not get money from it if Ukraine does not get money,” Bessent noted.
At the same time, he said that people who “put their hand in the till” may be dissatisfied with this agreement.
“Because we will control the flow of money. That’s the cause of the problems,” he explained.
