US President Donald Trump plans to sign an executive order lifting sanctions against Syria.

This was announced by White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.

“This is another promise that the current president has made and is keeping to promote peace and stability in the region,” Levitt noted.

Thus, the US will lift restrictions on Syria, where a new government is now in power. However, sanctions imposed against Assad and his associates will remain in force. These include representatives of the regime who violated human rights, trafficked drugs, were associated with chemical weapons, and also had ties to ISIS and other terrorist groups.
