The United States of America has prepared the first package of sanctions against Russia, which includes a ban on processing transactions of large Russian banks.

This is reported by Reuters , citing sources.

Sanctions envisaged in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine will be aimed at reducing the correspondent relations of US and Russian banks, which allow for international payments. The list of banks that may be subject to sanctions is not fully formed. At the same time, the agency notes that the restrictions are likely to affect VTB, Sberbank, VEB.RF and Gazprombank.

In addition, in the event of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the United States will impose sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities, which provide for the freezing of assets and a ban on any transactions. The White House and the US Treasury declined to comment.READ ALSO:

Recall that earlier Vice-President of the European Commission, EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell proposed to the EU Council at the level of foreign ministers to approve a package of tough sanctions against the Russian Federation in case of further invasion of Ukraine.

The head of European diplomacy also stated that there was no evidence of the withdrawal of certain units of Russian troops from the Ukrainian border.

Then the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, revealed some details of the sanctions. According to her, in the event of a new invasion of Ukraine, Russia will be cut off from international financial markets. It will also not be able to access key export commodities.

  1. How many Ukrainians do Russia need to kill before sanctions are slapped on the terrorist? Prevention is always better than the cure.

    • This is a mess. They say they want to wait until Vladolf actually invades before allying sanctions but then they also say once he’s invaded it almost impossible to get him out. It looks like Ukraine has to do it all alone again and with grannies and clubs.

      • It reeks of appeasement. I think Macron also offered Putler Donbas in exchange for Putler not invading.

  2. The Biden administration just can’t get it straight. It has no ideas, no plans and no courage. Sanctions are not useful when mafia tanks are rolling over Ukrainian landscapes and shells and rockets rain down on Ukrainian heads.

  3. Putin has already invaded. He also trying to produce false flag incidents to give him a casus belli. We need full sanctions now and need to keep them until he gets out of all of Ukraine.
