US tests NATO allies for loyalty to Trump policies – Bloomberg

NATO countries have received a questionnaire from the United States, according to which Washington wants to determine the extent to which allies support the policies of US President Donald Trump . The results may affect the reduction of the US military presence in these countries.

This was reported by Bloomberg with reference to a document received by the Alliance countries,  Censor.NET reports .

More about the questionnaire

In a document recently sent to members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the United States asks a series of questions to gauge the level of support for the American leader’s approach.

In particular, the questionnaire contains the following questions:

  • whether the country publicly supported US foreign policy;
  • what restrictions it placed on the use of its bases by the American military;
  • whether it buys weapons and other equipment from American defense companies;
  • whether it opposed rules that restricted contracts with American manufacturers;
  • is ready to support the Trump administration’s approach to international policy – to act “strongly, clearly and quietly” ( a reference to the statement of Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth at the Shangri-La Dialogue summit in Singapore in May 2026).

In addition, Washington is interested in the position of allies on American military operations in the Middle East. For example, the US is asking whether countries have banned the use of their bases for strikes on Iran and whether they are ready to lift such restrictions.

Washington also wants to get confirmation of countries’ defense spending and find out whether they are buying American weapons instead of preferring European manufacturers.

Reaction of NATO countries

The allies expressed dissatisfaction with Washington’s move, viewing it as an attempt to force them into ideological alignment in exchange for protection from the United States, according to a Bloomberg source.

This could change the traditional principles of relations within NATO , which after World War II provided for American military support regardless of political differences.

The questionnaire was initially sent to allies in Washington and was distributed this week at NATO headquarters in Brussels. The US will discuss the ongoing review of its military presence with allies in Brussels this month.

Context

  • Poland and Lithuania have previously said they are ready to accept additional US troops after plans to reduce the contingent in Germany . Washington has also considered the possibility of withdrawing up to 5,000 troops from German territory.
  • German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called for not dramatizing the US decision to reduce its military presence in the country after Donald Trump’s statement on the withdrawal of part of the American contingent.
  • Later, the media reported that the US Army had refused to send 4,000 troops to Poland. Джерело: https://censor.net/ua/n4018483

  1. How about a questionnare that tests Trump’s loyalties to democracy and European allies? Loyalty works both ways, or did nobody ever tell that to TACO?

  2. Like i said repeatedly, Trump – like Obama – is one of the most unamerican presidents. His policies do not reflect true US interests, but he serves putin very well.
