A group of Republican lawmakers in the US state of Minnesota are planning to propose a measure that would require the state to include ” Trump syndrome” as a mental illness, Fox reports .
So, five lawmakers want to introduce such a bill in the state Senate and send it to the Health and Human Services Committee. The document would specifically add “Trump obsession syndrome” to the state’s definition of mental illness.
The bill defines “Trump syndrome” as “an acute episode of paranoia in normal individuals that is a reaction to the policies and presidency of Donald Trump.”
“Symptoms may include a generalized Trump-induced hysteria that results in an inability to distinguish between legitimate policy disagreements and signs of mental pathology in the behavior of President Donald J. Trump,” the proposal says.
Since the state legislature is divided, the bill is unlikely to be approved, journalists emphasize.
It is noted that mental illness is defined as a disorder or other problem that is included in a list of diagnostic codes. “Trump obsession syndrome” is not recognized as a mental illness anywhere.
