Kelly bought a different car instead of a Tesla.

US Senator Mark Kelly, a Democrat, said he would no longer drive a Tesla. This happened after US billionaire Elon Musk accused him of betrayal over his visit to Ukraine, Bloomberg writes .

“I’m here in Washington, driving my Tesla to work for the last time. I didn’t think it would become a political issue when I bought this thing. Every time I get in this car for the last 60 days, it reminds me of the damage Elon Musk and Donald Trump are doing to our country,” the publication quotes Kelly as saying on social media.

It is noted that later in an interview Kelly called Tesla a “billboard” for working for Musk, and that is why he bought a white Chevy Tahoe to replace Tesla. One of the reasons for the senator’s decision was that Musk, as head of the US Government Efficiency Department, had cut tens of thousands of workers.

The publication recalled that Musk recently called Kelly a “traitor” because of his visit to Ukraine, which took place after the US administration suspended military aid to Ukraine. At that time, Kelly said that stopping the transfer of weapons to Ukraine “will only help the Russians.” In response, Musk called him a “traitor.”

The publication writes that Kelly and Musk have known each other for a long time, since Kelly previously worked at Musk’s SpaceX, but this year they have increasingly publicly criticized each other.

Bloomberg also recalled that in 2022, Kelly even advertised Tesla. “It’s a lot of fun to drive. It’s also generally good for the environment, right? Zero emissions,” he said then.

  1. Anyone owning Tesla stocks might want to consider dumping them immediately. In a few weeks they might be worth close to $0.00.
