The US Senate has approved a bill by the late Senator Lindsey Graham to tighten sanctions against Russia and Iran , Reuters reports .
After his death, his colleagues in the chamber agreed to support the initiative as a sign of their last respects to him.
The bill will then be forwarded to the House of Representatives, which is currently on recess.
The vote was 68 to 9 in favor of the “Lindsey O. Graham Russia and Iran Sanctions Act of 2026,” which would impose sanctions on Russian officials and impose tough tariffs on China, India, and other countries to reduce their dependence on Russian oil and gas.

Sanctions against the Russian Federation
Previously, the US imposed sanctions against several structures of the Russian Ministry of Defense, as well as two Russian companies and five Russian citizens.
The State Department document stated that the sanctions include the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the 1061st Logistics Center of the Russian Armed Forces, the Directorate for Advanced Inter-Service Research and Special Projects of the Russian Ministry of Defense, and the Russian Ground Forces. The sanctions also apply to any successors, divisions, or subsidiaries of these entities.

Not how hellish they are, but will they be overridden when TACO refuses to sign the bill? I don’t see both houses getting 67% to override this bill if it isn’t signed.
The Senate passed the Bill with 86 votes which would easily override a veto. Hopefully similar results in the House.

While it’s true that 86 votes which would easily override a veto, the fact that the initial bill got 86 votes says nothing about how many republicans would stand up to trumpkov if he were to veto it.
I’m not sure why he wouldn’t sign it. Unlike the Ukraine Support Act (passed mainly by Democrats), which had teeth, this one allows a known ruSSian agent to ignore it if he so chooses.
I won’t cheer one bit until I see concrete results.
I believe if the bill passes, but TACO refuses to sign it, the bill goes back to the House and Senate where it needs 67% from both houses to override the POTUS. This is rarely successful. If it goes back to both houses, they usually vote along party lines, meaning Ukraine have no chance.
