Authorities in the United States and other countries have handed over more than 17,000 historical artifacts to Iraq that have been illegally removed from the country .

Many of the archeological finds were stolen from museums and smuggled out of the country during the “rule” of Islamic State terrorists and sold. 

The most valuable exhibit is Gilgamesh’s dream tablet, which scientists consider one of the world’s oldest works of art. Its age is about 3.5 thousand years.

This is a clay cuneiform tablet, which contains part of the Sumerian epic about the ruler Gilgamesh

In 2003, it was smuggled into the United States and sold under counterfeit documents at Christie’s auction for $ 1.674 million at the Hobby Lobby Arts and Crafts Supermarket in Oklahoma.
