The US hopes that the allies’ decision to send long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine will encourage Germany to make a similar decision about its Taurus cruise missiles.

Details: The senior official in the US Defense Department stressed that the decision to send Taurus missiles to Ukraine is for Germany to make.
“But certainly the US provision of ATACMS as well as prior decisions by the UK and France to provide long-range cruise missiles, we would certainly hope that this would be a factor,” the official added.
Ukraine has long been asking Germany to send Taurus missiles, which have a range of 500 km, but Berlin has refused to do so, fearing an escalation of the conflict.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz recently confirmed that he intends to stick to his refusal to supply Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles despite the US Congress’ readiness to provide ATACMS.
Jake Sullivan, advisor to the US President for National Security, has confirmed that Ukraine has received ATACMS long-range missiles and that the deliveries would continue in the future.

Scholz must be badly advised by bad advisers, or he refuses to listen to good advice from good advisers, I don’t know which is the truth. Either way, I think it’s a possibility that Scholz’s spinelessness and blindness could be viewed as a disease. Even with bad advisers, he should, as a head of state, see the necessity of helping Ukraine win this war, and to do so, it must be able to strike at targets that are against the current German chickenshit attitude. There was perhaps never such a coward as leader of a major country as this one.
One might hazard a guess that he doubled aid to Ukraine so that when challenged about Taurus he could retort with:
“Ah but we are Ukraine’s second biggest supplier.”
There is some speculation that the valuation he’s put on his materiel is excessive too. And some of it is sub-par in terms of quality.
He and Macron are inadequate. Both could become heroes instantly if Scholz sends Taurus and Macron sends his three divisions of troops.
My guess is that neither will happen.
I suppose those two bimbos would rather have their own troops take a shot at fighting the orc mob. Pun intended. This would not end well for the continent. And, quite frankly, if it ever came to that, my compassion for the Europeans would be quite limited.
