The WTO statement condemned the devastating impact of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on the lives of people and the economy of the Ukrainian state.

On Wednesday, February 26, the United States of America did not support the annual statement of World Trade Organization members condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine.

This is the first time in three years, since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Reuters reported, citing a source and a Geneva trade official, and is another sign of a change in relations between Moscow and Washington.

It is noted that this year the statement was signed by 44 WTO member countries and Ukraine, including the European Union, Great Britain, Canada and Australia.

“The decision not to co-sponsor was made in accordance with our position in the United Nations Security Council and the UN General Assembly earlier this week,” the US official told the agency.

“We are seriously concerned about the consequences of this destruction for Ukraine and for world trade, including the supply of agricultural products, fertilizers and mineral resources from Ukraine to international markets,” the WTO added.
