US Embassy warns of possible large-scale Russian strike on Ukraine within 24 hours

The US Embassy has warned of a possible large-scale Russian airstrike on Ukraine within the next 24 hours.

Quote: “The US embassy in Kyiv has received information concerning a potentially significant air attack that may occur at any time over the next 24 hours. The embassy, as always, recommends US citizens be prepared to immediately shelter in the event an air alert is announced.”

For reference: A previous security alert from the US Embassy was released on 8 January this year. On the night of 8-9 January, Russia fired an Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile on Lviv Oblast.

Background: Earlier on 23 May, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, citing intelligence from Kyiv’s US and European partners, that Russia is likely preparing a strike on Ukraine using the Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile, including on Kyiv.
